Here’s what it’s like when Living South Realty works for you…The Final Walk Through: Why it is so Important when Building a New Home

When you are building a brand new home, one of the most important meetings you will have with your builder is the final walkthrough. This is an opportunity to get a last-minute look at your house and verify that all of the work has been completed to your satisfaction. It’s also the best time to make sure that everything is as you expected before you close on your new home. Let’s take a closer look at why this meeting is so important and how to make sure you’re prepared for it.

What is a Final Walk Through?

A final walkthrough typically takes place 7-15 days before closing. During this meeting, you and your builder will do a thorough inspection of the home and go over all of the details from start to finish. This includes inspecting all of the work that has been done, making sure that all fixtures, appliances, and finishes are installed correctly, checking for any damages or defects in construction material, ensuring that any repairs or modifications requested have been done correctly, and verifying that any promises made by the builder during construction have been kept.

How Can I Prepare for My Final Walk Through?

At Living South Realty, we strongly recommend getting a third party home inspection from an independent inspector who can provide an unbiased opinion about any potential issues.  In fact, we feel so strongly about this we will pay for this for you* With terms and conditions applied :). Armed with our inspection report and years of new home construction experience, we know what to look for and how to make sure everything gets done for our clients.

Having both pre-walkthrough inspections allows our clients to go into their meeting feeling informed and confident in what they should expect from their builder. By being prepared ahead of time, they can avoid costly errors down the road.

The final walk through when building a new home is an important step in ensuring that everything meets your expectations before closing on it. By taking advantage of pre-walkthrough inspections beforehand (including having a third party inspector come in if necessary), you can ensure that every detail has been checked off properly and give yourself peace of mind once you officially move into your new home! With Living South Realty’s help, you’ll be prepared for this crucial process every step of the way.

It’s a good life… Living South!
